District Plan for Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services

USD 105-Rawlins County

PART I.

Describe how the district will maintain the health and safety of students, educators, and other staff and the extent to which it has adopted policies, and a description of any such policies, on each of the following safety recommendations established by the CDC:

A. Universal and correct wearing of masks.

USD 105 will recommend and encourage students and staff to wear masks on school property or when in a group setting.

B. Modifying facilities to allow for physical distancing (e.g., use of cohorts/podding).

USD 105 staff members are encouraged to distance as much as possible in their classrooms as space and classroom learning opportunities allow.   

C. Handwashing and respiratory etiquette.

USD 105 encourages a safe and clean environment for students, staff, and community.  All stakeholders are encouraged to wash hands at appropriate times and to stay home when sick.

D. Cleaning and maintaining healthy facilities, including improving ventilation.

USD 105 strives to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.  We hired extra custodial staff for our district for the 2020-21 school year and this position will be employed in the future.  USD 105 is studying our facilities, especially our HVAC systems, ventilation, and windows, to improve ventilation in our facilities.

E. Contact tracing in combination with isolation and quarantine, in collaboration with the State, local, territorial, or Tribal health departments.

USD 105 works in collaboration with the Rawlins County Public Health Department in isolation and quarantine. 

F. Diagnostic and screening testing.

USD 105 does not provide diagnostic or screen testing services to our students and staff.  USD 105 encourages our families and staff to stay home if showing symptoms and contact the Rawlins County Public Health Department for testing if an individual has been in contact with a positive case or if they are showing COVID 19 symptoms. 

F. Efforts to provide vaccinations to school communities.

USD 105 has encouraged staff and student who are eligible to receive a vaccine.  USD 105 is not requiring staff nor students to be vaccinated.

H. Appropriate accommodations for children with disabilities with respect to health and safety policies.

USD 105 will make appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities with respect to health and safety policies.  USD 105 expects all enrolled students to attend school in-person going forward.

I. Coordination with State and local health officials.

As stated above, USD 105 is working in collaboration with the Rawlins County Public Health Department in isolation and quarantine procedures. 

Part II.

Describe how the district will ensure continuity of services, including but not limited to:

  1. services to address students' academic needs

    • USD 105 is using data to track student academic progress and to address the individual academic needs of our students.  USD 105 has implemented a new ELA program the elementary and a new math program for our Junior-Senior High.

  2. students' and staff social, emotional, mental health

    • USD 105 is implementing the Second Step Social Emotional Program for our students.  USD 105 employs a K-12 Counselor and prides ourselves with building positive relationships with our students and families.  We have recently hired a Student Advocate for our elementary.  USD 105 works to develop a positive and professional atmosphere for our staff.

  3. other needs, which may include student health and food services.

    • USD 105 is taking advantage of the free breakfasts and lunches for our students.
