Students and Parents,

As the school year begins I am excited to see everyone Wednesday! I hope you all had a great summer. Our district took a big step in a positive direction by passing the bond which will make it possible to build a new K-12 school. There are still many hurdles to cross and challenges to overcome. Together we will make the best of it and have another great school year at RCHS as we start a new chapter!

The school day will be very similar to last year. Breakfast will be held at the grade school cafeteria. If your student does not drive they can be dropped at the grade school for breakfast and then will be bused to the high school at 8:00 before the first bell at 8:05. If your student drives they can drive to breakfast at the grade school and then when they are finished they can drive to the high school for their first hour.  First hour band will continue to be at the grade school. Band students who do not drive and eat breakfast can stay at the  grade school for band. These students need to stay in the cafeteria until 8:05 when they can go to Band.  I ask that band students that  do drive and eat breakfast please drive to the high school after eating breakfast at the grade school. They will then ride the 8:05 bus back down to the grade school for band and avoid the need to drive up after band. The bus taking students to and from the grade school will load and unload on the pavement between the Ag building and the modulars. The bus will load and unload to the west of grade school by the gym for kids riding to and from breakfast as well as lunch and music classes throughout the day taking place at the grade school.

All students who do not eat breakfast need to report to the high school before 8:05 but no earlier than 7:30. Students who arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 need to  go to the ICAN classroom.  After 7:45 students will go to a designated class sponsor room until 8:05 when they can then go to their first period. The class sponsor assignment list will be posted in the hallways tomorrow  morning. I will be present tomorrow morning to show students where classrooms are and we will also be handing out class schedules before school.

Students can be dropped off on the pavement between the Ag building and Modular site. There is a sidewalk students can use to access the classroom complex.  Students who drive are asked to park in the concrete parking lot east of the old high school building. The new crushed concrete parking lot will be reserved for teachers and guests. When dropping off students please enter the parking lot from the far south entrance or entrance between the old building site and ag building and exit the far north exit. This will keep traffic flow in one direction to help keep our students safe .

Students will need to continue to carry backpacks as we currently do not have locker space in the modular classrooms. I know this does not answer all the questions students will have, but as mentioned earlier we will use the next couple days to understand our new routine and adjust where needed. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.

Lastly, here is a link to our new cell phone policy. Parents and students please read it over as it has changed greatly from the previous policy. Parents and students are required to sign and return  the policy. Paper copies will be handed out to take  home and return to the office . If the link below does not work the policy can be found at the district website usd105.org
