RCHS Buffalo Wrestling Tournament

Rawlins County High School was host to 10 wrestling teams on Saturday January, 24, 2009. The day was filled with many exciting matches.  Wray, Colorado won the tournament with 129 points, Rawlins County High School earned the 2ndplace trophy with 86 points, Lakin was 3rdwith 85 points. Other teams wrestling were Arapahoe, Sedgwick County, Colby JV, Goodland, Holcomb, Leoti, and Flaming.

 

Individual Placings:

Dustin Vap at 103 lbs. earned the first place medal in a 6 person round robin – pinning all but one of his matches - which he won by a major decision of 14-7.

Garth Griffith at 119 lbs.earned the second place medal in an 8 man bracket – pinning his first 2 matches – losing by fall in the final match to Dalton Davis of Lakin.

Cody Green at 130 lbs.earned the second place medal in an 8 man bracket – pinning his first 2 matches – losing in the finals 3 – 6 to Blayne Richards of Sedgwick County.

Kevin Wolters at 140 lbs.earned the second place medal in a 16 man bracket – pinning his first 3 matches – losing in the finals 4 – 8 to John Lynch of Lakin.

David Ford at 152 lbs.in a 16 man bracket was 0-2 in the tournament and continues to work hard every match.

Zack Ruda at 160 lbs.in a 16 man bracket was 2 – 1. 

Lance Finley at 171 lbs.in a 16 man bracket was 2 – 0 for the day before defaulting due to injury and didn’t continue wrestling.

Tyler Martin at 171 lbs. in a 16 man bracket was 0 – 2 for the day but doesn’t give up and continues to work hard.

Mark Green at 189 lbs.earned the third place medal in an 8 man bracket – losing his first match 9 – 10, the second match his opponent was injured and did not wrestle – in the finals for third he pinned Tyler Fisher of Goodland.

Dakota Duncan at 275 lbs. earned the third place medal in a 4 person round robin– he pinned Cody Kirkiek of Colby in his final match to put RCHS ahead of Lakin for the 2ndplace team trophy.

 

The Buffalo Wrestling team will head into league action Saturday, January, 31 in Oakley. Come on over and support our RCHS Wrestling Team!
