“Way Out!”
The eighth graders went to the Cosmosphere at Hutchinson on May 2.
They learned about the history of the space program in the museum;
and enjoyed the explosions in Dr. Goddard’s Lab. The planetarium
gave them great views of the constellations during different
seasons; and the ancient sea creatures came alive in Sea Monsters
in the Imax theater. Some students tasted the freeze dried food
astronauts eat and decided they preferred mom’s home cooking. The
students studied space in science and read Anne Frank in English
this spring; so the trip related to many of their classroom
experiences.
The trip to the Underground Salt Museum was cancelled due to high winds, which caused a power outage. The trip home was interesting with high winds, snow, and bus issues. Everyone agreed that the trip was worthwhile and fun. Thanks to everyone who made it possible.
