Board of Education Meeting Minutes

September 18, 2006

The monthly meeting of the Rawlins County USD #105 Board of Education was called to order by President Pattie Wolters.  Those in attendance include Bill Beamgard, Brad Leitner, Kirk Lowry, Chris Sramek, Sylvia Walker, Mark Wolters, Kurt Dillon, Kathy Davis-Vrbas-Rawlins County Square Deal representative, Pam Dillon, and Cynthia Bieberle of Adams, Brown, Beran and Ball CPA firm.

07-36   Motion by Bill Beamgard seconded by Sylvia Walker to approve the agenda with the additions, as presented.  Motion carried 6-0

07-37  Motion by Chris Sramek, seconded by Brad Leitner to approve the minutes as presented.  Motion carried 6-0.

07-38   Mark Wolters reported on the following items:

  • KASB Fall Regional Meetings
  • FCIP Update
  • Wind Workshop

07-39   Mr. Dillon reported on the following:

  • Kal-Tech Academy workshop
  • Fall sports activities
  • Homecoming
  • Dane G. Hansen Scholarship test
  • Bill Cortes motivational speaker
  • FFA State Grand Champion at the State Fair
  • 3 Minute Classroom Walk Through
  • Kansas Assessment Evaluation at Staff In Service
  • RCHS will host League Volleyball

07-40     No NKESC Report

07-41     No Board Committee reports

07-42     Motion by Bill Beamgard, seconded by Brad Leitner to approve a 3 year contract for auditing services from Adams, Brown, Beran and Ball.  Motion carried 6-0.

07-43      Motion by Chris Sramek, seconded by Sylvia Walker to accept the auditor’s report.  Motion carried 6-0.

07-44     Motion by Brad Leitner, seconded by Bill Beamgard to approve the 2nd reading of EDAB Preschool Transportation.   Motion carried 6-0.

07-45     Motion by Kirk Lowry, seconded by Brad Leitner to approve the Transportation Survey to be sent out to families.  Motion carried 6-0.

07-46     Motion by  Brad Leitner, seconded by Kirk Lowry to approve the first reading of GCBAB with the following change in relation to cost to read as follows:  reimburse bus drivers for their actual cost of physical, after insurance, but not to exceed $100.00.  Motion carried 6-0.

07-47     Motion by Bill Beamgard seconded by Brad Leitner to approve the first reading of GCBAE with the following change in relation to cost to read as follows:  reimburse school food service personnel for their actual cost of physical, after insurance, but not to exceed $65.00.  Motion carried 6-0.

07-48     Motion by Bill Beamgard, seconded by Sylvia Walker to approve the proposed adjustments to the Early Retirement section of the Teacher-Board Negotiated Agreement.  Motion carried 6-0.       

07-49     Motion by Sylvia Walker, seconded by Pattie Wolters to appoint Bill Beamgard as the delegate representing Rawlins County USD #105 at the KASB State Convention.   Motion carried 6-0.                                                

  Motion by Bill Beamgard, seconded by Pattie Wolters to appoint Sylvia Walker as the alternate delegate to the KASB State Convention.

  Board members expressing interest in attending are Bill Beamgard, Pattie Wolters and Sylvia Walker.

07-50     Motion by Sylvia Walker seconded by Bill Beamgard to approve the band trip to the Air Force Academy Band Day in Colorado Springs.  Motion carried  6-0.

07-51     Motion by Chris Sramek seconded by Brad Leitner to approve the Creative Arts Club trip to Denver to see the play, Sweet Charity.  Motion carried 6-0.

07-52     Motion by Brad Leitner seconded by Kirk Lowry to approve the payment of claims Motion carried 6-0.

07-53      Motion by Kirk Lowry seconded by Sylvia Walker to approve Brenda Henry as High School Scholars Bowl coach, and to approve contracts for Patti Benda and Sally Lankas for Professional Development Committee members.  Motion carried 6-0.

07-54     Motion by  Brad Leitner, seconded by Kirk Lowry to approve the Philpott lease contract, seconded by Kirk Lowry.  Motion carried 6-0.
